Sir, I wanted to file a revised return for the AY-2010-11 because of a change in bank account number, but in ITR-4 Excel there is no option to select sec-139(5)from the drop down list. The only options in the drop list are u/s 139(1), u/s 139(4), u/s 142(1), u/s 148 and u/s 153A. Is there any problem if i file a revised return with the sec-139(1). Please do clarify my query.

If you filled the original return with in the due date prescribed under section 139(1) then the revised return will be considered as per section 139(1) so you select this and select revised return option and fill the details of the original return. Note: if the original return filled with in the due date prescribed under section 139(1) then only the revised return acceptable. I think for the reason of wrongly given bank account no you need not to file revise return better to make change of account no request to the cpc and AO after the receipt of the refunded cheque. You need not have to file revised return. After receipt of refund order you can request concerned A.O. to change the bank account number.

because section 139(5) says there is a provision to file revise return but not the section. You have to file your return under section 139(1) or 139(4) or 142 because there is only due dates prescribed. OM SAI SRI SAI JAI JAI SAI
