BSR Code is the number assigned to a particular branch of a bank which is generated by the BSR System. The Basic Statistical Returns (BSR) System introduced in December 1972 has been in force for more than three and half decades.

Just to identify the branch where tax is deposited. The codes are always unique and the descriptive address of bank and branch may confuse if not written properly or legibally.
