If the demand has been raised this year, there is no problem at all. But if the demand is paid this year due to default at the assessees end it requires proper explanation

You mean to say that when the profession tax is not paid due to default then it can't be calimed for deduction? Can you please explain here about default?(what kind of default)

There is one more doubt I have on Profession tax if our company having branches at other state then salary paid to branch staff at head office situated at Mumbai then whether it will attract profession tax if yes under wich state act please specify?

Professional Tax Deduction is totally based on the employee working location, i.e the rules previaling in the state where the branch locates.
Default means, the demand is raised by the local administration authority but the amount is not paid in the respective financial years.
If the demand is raised by the local authority this year, then you can claim for the same based on the demand notice.
