I want to ask that can we keep the basic wage lower than he minimum wage?or can we divide the minimum wage into BASIC+ HRA+SPECIAL ALLOWANCEAlso kindly tell me what is the minimum wage of a truck driver and field boys as per Jharkhand Minimum wage for the year 2014?

i have checked in minimum wages at and it is stated that the minimum wage for semi skilled worker in jharkhand is 184.7 per day.Does truck drivers come in category of semi skilled worker?

I have to prepare a salary structure of truck drivers as per minimum wages and other labour laws like pf,esi,bonus act etc.Can you please guide me what should be the structure if i want to keep it in a range of 5500 -6000.

ya but then for pf there employees provident fund act and for bonus there is payment of bonus act so first it is advisable u to check the respective act and then only u decide for them.

please refer section 2(h) of the Minimum Wages Act 1948 defines "wages".
Section 2(h)"wages" means all remuneration capable of being expressed in terms of money which would if the terms of the contract of employment express or implied were fulfilled be payable to a person employed in respect of his employment or of work done in such employment and includes house rent allowance but does not include -
(i) the value of - (a) any house accommodation supply of light water medical attendance or (b) any other amenity or any service excluded by general or special order of the appropriate government;
(ii) any contribution paid by the employer to any person fund or provident fund or under any scheme of social insurance;
(iii) any traveling allowance or the value of any traveling concession;
(iv) any sum paid to the person employed to defray special expenses entailed on him by the nature of his employment; or
(v) any gratuity payable on discharge;
(i)Essential Ingredient
1. Wage should be by way of remuneration
2. It should be capable of being expressed in terms of money.
3. It should be payable to a person employed in respect of his employment or of work done in such employment.
4. It should be payable to a workmen.
5. It should be payable if the terms of employment, express or implied, are fulfilled.
6. It includes house rent allowance.
7. It does not include house accommodation, supply of light, water, medical attendance, traveling allowance, contribution of employer towards provident fund, gratuity , any scheme of social insurance etc.

Hi Querist, As per the definition under Minimum wages Act - 1948, - Wages means all remuneration capable of being expressed in terms of money, which would be payable to a person employed in respect of his employment or work done in his employment and includes HRA but does not include - Gratuity, PF/ESI contribution, travelling allowance or concession, value of any facility or service extended to the employee.
