Can a Minor become a proprietor of a business with his mother as a legal representative, guardian & signing authority and is it possible to get registration under vat Act.

05 August 2012 You have not indicated which state you want to get registration for Minor. In tamilnadu VAT act, it is possible. The relevant act states,
" Where a person intending to commence business is a minor or where a minor inherits an existing business or succeeds a dealer, the certificate of registration shall be issued in the name of any guardian, trustee or agent of the minor carrying on business on behalf of and for the benefit of such minor".

06 August 2012 Thanks for the replay, the business is to be registered under the VAT Act in Karnataka, if possible please give me the relevant section of the same.
