Jurisdiction

This query is : Resolved

22 April 2010 Hi,
I am a salaried person and would like to know the jurisdiction in which i can file my income tax return.
Last 3 years i was in chennai and i filed my return there and now i moved to delhi. My home town is Kolkata. I would like to know that there is any way i can change my jurisdiction from chennai to kolkata instead of changing it from chennai to delhi.

Thanks in Advance
Vinay

22 April 2010 Hi,

If you are a salaried employee , your jursdiction will go by the address of your employer. Yes you can change the jursdiction to kolkata. Please note with the e-initiatives of the IT Dept , you can now file return from anywhere and hence filing returns would not be an issue.

22 April 2010 Thanks for your response Sriram. But one of my friend tried this and he applied for change of PAN mentioning both the permanent residential address and current residential address (like for me Kolkata and Delhi), but the jurisdiction he got for filing the return was based on the employer address. Suggest me how i can get the jurisdiction of Kolkata in my case.
Thanks

22 April 2010 hello,
if salaried person he/she can file in both Jursdiction as your employers or as your residence by onlin or manual. correspondence of refund or other will be based on which you have indicate in your it return form ok
its optional

but for business or professional its about place on which he/she has to filed their IT return. ok

22 April 2010 in your caseif your jursdiction is your residence or your employer then its ok don't to worry.

22 April 2010 when you do correction in pancard pls provide your per. residence on which you need to file every year bcs that the address never change and communication of IT dept. is also on that address so its easy and also save.
