It seems like you're dealing with an issue where the tax refund for the Assessment Year (AY) 2017-18 could not be processed because the bank account associated with the refund has been closed. Here's how to address this issue:
### Procedure for Applying for Refund Reissue
1. **Check Refund Status:** - Ensure that the refund status on the Income Tax Department (ITD) website confirms that the refund has indeed been rejected due to the closed bank account. You have already noted this from the status message.
2. **Update Bank Account Details:** - If the bank account details were incorrect or closed, update your bank details in the Income Tax e-filing portal.
3. **Apply for Refund Reissue:** - **Login:** Log in to your Income Tax e-filing account using your credentials. - **Navigate to Service Request:** Go to `Service Request` and select `New Request`. - **Select Refund Reissue:** Choose `Refund Reissue` from the list of available options. - **Enter Details:** Enter the required details, including the new bank account number. - **Submit and Verify:** Click on `Submit`. You may need to e-verify the request by entering an OTP based on Aadhaar authentication, if applicable.
4. **Check Refund Status Again:** - After submitting the refund reissue request, check the status again after a few days to ensure that the request is being processed.
5. **If No Pending Refund Issues:** - **Contact Your Assessing Officer (AO):** If the online procedure shows "No refund issues pending," and you believe there should be, contact your Assessing Officer directly. You may need to visit the local Income Tax office or reach out via email/phone. - **Provide Proof:** You may need to provide proof of the closed bank account and any correspondence related to the refund issue.
6. **Submit a Grievance:** - If you face difficulties or delays, you can also file a grievance through the ITD's grievance redressal mechanism.
### Additional Steps to Ensure Successful Refund Reissue:
- **Ensure Accuracy:** Verify that all details, including the new bank account number and other required information, are accurate before submitting the request. - **Keep Records:** Keep records of your communication with the IT department and any acknowledgment of your refund reissue request.
### Conclusion
The key steps involve updating your bank details in the e-filing portal and applying for a refund reissue. If online procedures do not reflect the pending refund, direct contact with your Assessing Officer and providing necessary documentation will be crucial in resolving the issue.
