I AM ABOUT TO COMPLETE MY CA. DURING THE ARTICLESHIP AND POST ARTICLESHIP PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT I FOUND MANAGERIAL, DECISION MAKING AND STRATEGIC SKILLS IN MYSELF. I DISCOVERED THAT I POSSESS LEADERSHIP QUALITIES WHILE DOING GMCS AND CARRYING AUDITS AND OTHER ASSIGNMENTS IN EMPLOYMENT.
NOW MY CONFUSION IS SHALL I PURSUE MBA TO SHARPEN AND DEVELOP THESE SKILLS? WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO PURSUE MBA WHILE DOING JOB? ARE DISTANT LEARNING PROGRAMS USEFUL? I AM ASKING THIS IN CONTEXT OF DEVELOPING THESE SKILLS AND NOT FROM "NAUKRI AND PAISA" POINT OF VIEW!
It is good that you have discovered about these qualities in yourself. Most of the people either do not know that they have these qualities or they do not practice them. A B-school (here I mean full time MBA) helps you in assessing whether you have these qualities (through projects, event exposures etc)and helps you finding a platform where you can practice them (in the form of a managerial job).
In distance learning MBA, with due respect to all the distance learning courses, both of these elements are missing. A distance learning program gives you more of theoretical knowledge and practical part is something that you have to look after yourself.
Thus in your case, I suggest that since you already know so much about yourself, try getting a managerial job or start a business of your own, whatever suits you. That is the only way you can sharpen your skills. In case you are looking for a good support on that front only then try getting into a good full time B-school and invest 2 years of your life.
