Dear Expert, my father is a driver of a vanity van in the film industry. Vanity van is the van in which all the artist do the make up. My father is not the owner of the van. He is just a driver of that van. But he is not paid by the owner for his services. He is paid by the directors and producers of the particular programme or film. The amount is not fixed and it gets fluctuated. Is (the amount received by him) it contract charges? While filing the return his income will be treated under which head of income?

First of all came sure that the payment made by director / producer to your father is credited to him without deducting any TDS. If they are not deducting TDS and there is lack of a writen agreement with your father then you can show this income as salary, other wise show the income under the head in which TDS deducted.
