This query is : Resolved

23 March 2016 I am earning salary in lumpsum amont. Which means no basic & HRA. In such a case whether can I get HRA exemption. If so how I can claim HRA deduction while computation. Please advice

23 March 2016 HRA exemption cannot be availed for those not receiving HRA.

23 March 2016 yes agree to sir, the person who received HRA in salary part can only get exemption u/s 10(13A) for you, you can take deduction u/s 80GG which is deduction for rent paid which is based on calculation. so calculate and get relief.

23 March 2016 Thanks sir,. Thats what I am asking for. I know the calculation for HRA RECEIVED. But for those who are not receiving HRA, they can get relief based on calculation u/s 80GG. So, what is the calculation, which I do not know and I want to know. Please help. I do not want 1 word reply. Since I am in confusion so I enquired you. Please give a suitable answer.

23 March 2016 As required, following are the reply:-

Income 400000
Rent for the year 48000(4000*12)

Deduction allowable :
a) 2000pm i.e 24,000 (Limit has been increase to 5000pm applicable from 01.04.2017)
b) Rent paid minus 10% of total income (48000-10%*400000) 8000
c) 25%*total income (25%*400000)= 100000

Lower of the above Rs.8000 allowable under seciton 80GG.

Regards
Pradeep

23 March 2016 Thanks for the detailed illustration. Every body is arguing that I cannot get any relief because I am not receiving HRA. Now I got a clear picture.
