Dear friends I am a salaried employee as well as working as an insurance agent for Health Insurance Company. Both Employer and Health Insurance company deducted my Professional Tax and paid to Maharashtra Government. So total Professional Tax paid to Government is Five Thousand(5000) Is there any process to claim refund of Professional Tax?

In Maharashtra, if you have paid professional tax through multiple sources (such as from your salary as a salaried employee and as an insurance agent), you can claim a refund for the excess professional tax paid. Here’s how you can proceed:
1. **Collect Proof of Payment**: Gather proof of professional tax payments made from both sources (your salary and as an insurance agent). This could include salary slips showing professional tax deduction, receipts from the Health Insurance Company, or any other relevant documents.
2. **Prepare an Application**: Write an application addressed to the Professional Tax Officer (PTO) of your jurisdiction in Maharashtra. Include details such as your name, PAN, address, sources of income where professional tax was deducted, and the total amount of professional tax paid.
3. **Submit Application**: Submit your application along with copies of supporting documents (such as payment receipts, salary slips, etc.) to the local Professional Tax Office.
4. **Verification and Processing**: The Professional Tax Officer will verify your claim and the documents submitted. If everything is in order and it is found that you have paid more than the required amount of professional tax, a refund will be processed.
5. **Receive Refund**: Once approved, the refund amount will be credited to your bank account through the ECS (Electronic Clearing Service) or by a cheque issued by the Professional Tax Office.
6. **Follow Up**: In case of any delays or if you need to follow up on the status of your refund application, you can contact the Professional Tax Officer or visit the office in person.
It’s important to ensure that all documents submitted are accurate and complete to facilitate a smooth processing of your refund claim. If you need specific forms or further guidance, you can visit the Maharashtra Government’s official website or contact their helpline for professional tax-related queries.
