Forget to mention section 89 in ay 2013-14 itr

This query is : Resolved

08 September 2014 Hi,

I'm working in a private company as an engineer.Today I received a letter from CPC Income tax department to pay 50000/- for AY 2013-14.
During the cross check(ITR form vs Form 16) I've found that I have missed to mention the amount in section RELIEF U/S 89 during ITR fill up which was mentioned in Form 16.

Could you please advice me what should I do to rectify the section RELIEF U/S 89 data in ITR AY 2013-14?

Thanks..

09 September 2014 you can file revised return upto 31/03/2015 if you have filed your original return within 31/07/2013. otherwise u can file rectification of mistake u/s 154.
it is advisable to process this from professionals or Income Tax Act savvy.

09 September 2014 Hi Mayur,

Thanks for your advice.
I've few more queries:
1. For AY 2013-14 the ITR due date was 05-08-2013 instead of 31-07-2013.Please correct me if I'm wrong.
2.As I had submitted the ITR on 05-08-2013 whether I'm eligible for revised return in this case, please let me know.
3.For my case which option is easier and logical ,rvised return or rectification? In case of online rectification what will be the options I will select from ITR web site for my case as they provide multiple options during rectification.

Please advice.

09 September 2014 Dear Anirban,
You are right. For the AY 2013-14, the due date of filing of return had been extended to 5th August, 2014 and You filed your return on 5th August i.e. within due date.

So, You can revise your return.

09 September 2014 Hi All,

For my case which option is more logical i)Revised return OR ii)Rectification?

Thanks..

09 September 2014 Hi All,

09 September 2014 Dear,
Revise your return....

09 September 2014 Someone told me that I'm not eligible for revised return since the assessment is already done.

Since I've received INTIMATION U/S 143(1) , is that mean my ITR is already assessed?

09 September 2014 Dear,
You can revise your return even though you have received intimation u/s 143(1).

11 September 2014 hi anirban, sorry for late continuity as pick hrs running..
anyways as per your detail, it is easier to file revised return upto mentioned time limit. Revised return option is open even if you have received intimation provided mentioned time limit didn't get expired.

24 September 2014 Hi,

I had submitted a rectification request which is now rejected by CPC.They sent me a mail mentioning the reason noted below:

--------------------------------------
Your application vide rectification request no XXXXXXX Dated 12-09-2014 for the above
mentioned assessment year cannot be rectified at CPC and hence rejected for the reason/s as provided below.
Your case has been transferred to the Jurisdictional Assessing Officer- WBG/x/x/- ,who may be contacted for
all subsequent actions against the order passed by CPC.

DUE TO TECHNICAL REASONS THE RECTIFICATION RIGHTS, IN YOUR CASE, ARE BEING TRANSFERRED TO YOUR ASSESSING OFFICER. KINDLY CONTACT YOUR
ASSESSING OFFICER FOR THE SAME.THE DETAILS OF THE JURISDICTIONAL ASSESSING OFFICER ARE AVAILABLE ON THE WEBSITE
HTTP://WWW.INCOMETAXINDIAEFILING.GOV.IN UNDER "SERVICES" - "KNOW YOUR JURISDICTIONAL A.O".

------------------------------------
Someone told me that I can't submit the revised return since my ITR (AY 2013-14)is already assessed. Is it true?If not then can I submit a revised return now in my case?

Please guide me what to do.

Thanks,

02 October 2014 you can file revised return still now.
