Short-term capital gains from the sale of unlisted shares are taxed at 30%, long-term capital gains are taxed at 10% (for FIIs) and 20% (for domestic investors). Short-term gains arise when shares are sold within a year of their purchase, and Long-terms gains accrue if the shares are sold after one year of holding them.
