16 February 2011 One of our staff following details for claiming Deduction from Salary income

1. Medical Bill -Father - Rs.35000/-

2. Tution Fee - One Child.- Rs.22000/-
3.LIC
A.Wife - 5558/-
B.Self - Rs.7770/-
4.NSC in Child name - Rs.25000/-

5.Health Policy (80D) -Rs. 6595/-

What are the allowable deduction agianst the same, Max. limit and Section.

Please advise me

16 February 2011 If only Medical Bill then you can go for Medical Reimbursement Section, where it has been described that upto Rs. 15,000 pa is allowed if bills are not of govt. hospital or non-approved hospital from IT dept.

Tution fee is allowed as deduction u/s 80C but only for full time education in India.

LIC is allowed u/s 80C only upto maximum 20% of sum assured.

NSC should be in his name only, please check this (section 80C)

Health Policy is allowed upto Rs. 15,000 pm, u/s 80D.
