hello, my friend is working with the nationalised bank. he has spent some amount towards medical treatment of his wife during her pregnency. what kind of deduction is available to him if the entire amount is reimbursed to him by bank? if no such amount is reimbursed then is there any deduction available to him? if yes, to what extent? kindly give me suitable answers.

If that hospital, in which his wife got treatment during her pregency, was recognized from the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax then whole amount which has been paid toward bills of the hospital will be exempt, if hospital was not recognized then there would not be any deduction or exempt.
In case, no reimbursement then no deduction anywhere he can claim.
