Certificate for 80DDB exemption

This query is : Resolved

18 March 2010 Under sec 80DDb I have to claim for an exemption due to the Chronic renal failure. As per the rule, I had to submit a certificate from the Nephrologist working in Govt hospital.
My treatment is going on in Apollo hospital. And as various dept of the delhi govt and central govt refer their own employees to the super speciallity hospital(APOLLO) for such dieseases and also as it is very difficult to get the certificate from the govt hospitals, please suggest can i submit the certificate signed by my doctors in Apollo hospital.

18 March 2010 There should be no difficulty as Govt hospitals cannot refuse to give such certificates if you fulfil their terms and conditions.

18 March 2010 But as govt depts. themselves are refering their employees to apollo as their are very few govt hospitals with such facilities in delhi then appollo hospital certificate will not be valid.

To take a simple certificate I had to make several vists to the govt hospitals and ask the doctors to give me the certifaicate.... please suggest.

18 March 2010 Rule 11DD(1) says the certificate should be from a doctor working in Government hospital in form 10I. If you are a government servant, certificate from Appllo hospital is sufficient provided the government had made arrangements with Appollo Hosipital for the treatment of government servants.
