I have received an Assessment Order from IT Dept as my case was selected for scrutiny under C.A.S.S (AST) and notice u/s 143(2) was served on assess. The assessment is now completed based on the material available. Date of order - 31.12.2010
Upon calculating the tax, it has been mentioned that my refund has been already issued u/s 143(1) and there is no balance payable/refundable. Till date i haven't received my refund.
Do i need to wait for sometime for the refund as the date or order of this assessment was done on 31.12.2010

So, do you think when the assessment order was sent, they would've considered the refunded amt as posted even though it takes 20 days to receive cheque? How to confirm? Thanks

Sir, In you 143(1) order kindly check whether there is number in the refund reference number (3rd page).Kindly mention the number and write a mail to CPC.

Dear Sivasankar, I don't see any refund reference number on the 3rd page. On the 2nd page, on the balance payable calculation, they have mentioned under refund column stating Refund already issued u/s 143(1) and the balance payable/Refundable is NIL.

You can write to the assessing Officer stating that the refund purportedly issued has not reached you. When you say that the order states that refund has been issued according to processing under section 143(1), it ought to have either been credited or issued. When neither of them is the situation, you can point out to the asssessing Officer and ask him for the refund which he would verify and act upon.

Sure, I would send an enquiry mail to the assessing officer. But my another question is when the assessment order was sent, they have considered the refunded amt as posted. Another member in this post replied me stating refunds are issued from sbi mumbai it will take at least 20 days to receive cheque. Do i need to wait or act instantly? Pl. Advice?
You have conveyed that the order of assessment is specific that the refund was issued while your return was processed under section 143(1). Normally there would be time gap of more than 6 months in between the two orders in which case, if the refund as reported has been issued, even admitting that the sbi Bombay mails you the refund or credited through ECS, it ought to have reached you. When these events have not occurred, you can clearly address the assessing Officer.
