12 July 2024 Yes, in the context of terminating articleship where the reason cited is "student joining for employment," the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your Principal is indeed a mandatory document. The absence of the NOC is likely the reason why your Form 109 application was rejected by the regional office.

### Necessary Documents for Termination of Articleship:

1. **Form 109**: This form is used for applying for the transfer or termination of articleship. It needs to be filled out accurately and completely.

2. **No Objection Certificate (NOC)**:
- The NOC is a letter issued by your Principal stating that they have no objection to your request for termination or transfer of articleship.
- The NOC should outline the reasons for termination, confirm the period you have served, and acknowledge any agreements or conditions related to your articleship.

3. **Other Supporting Documents**:
- Copies of your articleship agreement.
- Any correspondence or communication with your Principal regarding the termination.
- Proof of your current articleship status and duration served.

### Importance of NOC:

- The NOC is crucial because it validates your request and ensures that the termination is mutually agreed upon between you and your Principal.
- It demonstrates to the regional office that your Principal is aware of your decision and supports the termination or transfer.

### Next Steps:

1. **Obtain NOC**: Contact your Principal and request them to issue an NOC specifically for the purpose of terminating your articleship.

2. **Re-submit Form 109**: Once you have obtained the NOC, re-fill Form 109 accurately and attach the NOC along with any other required documents.

3. **Follow-Up**: After submission, follow up with the regional office or check the status online to ensure that your application is processed smoothly.

### Conclusion:

The rejection of your Form 109 application was likely due to the absence of the NOC from your Principal. Ensure you include all required documents, especially the NOC, when re-submitting your application to avoid further delays. If you have any doubts or need clarification, consider contacting the ICAI helpline or your regional office for assistance.
