If a cheque is returned, what course of action is available to the beneficiary? is there any legal recourse available and if so, indicate the details?

If the cheque has returned for insufficient fund or stop payment instruction, recourse can be taken to Section 138 of Negotiable Instrument Act. Further action can be suggested after knowing the reason for return.
