Dear Expert, Required to calculate TDS for a new employee who will be joining my company from nov 2013 her gross salary is 40,000/-. Her previous salary in hand was 34,250/- ( after deducting TDS Rs.750 ) . her investment are LIC – 40185 PPF – 59815.
nov what will be the tds to be deducted from her salary in my office since she will join us in november and if i calculate from novermber it will 40000-200pt = 39800*5=1,99,000 which is below the taxable limit. or will i be taking for the whole year considering 7 months with 34250/- salary and 5 months with 40000/-

If she asks you to consider her previous salary then you have to consider and deduct TDS accordingly. if she does not say it then employer has no responsbility to ask employee about salary of previous employer and calculate TDS, therefore if she does not instruct you to consider her previous employer salary then you dont have to consider and accordingly for 5 months there will not be any tax liability.

You need not to consider the previous employer's salary payment for deduction of TDS by you, If she at her option declared to you such previous employer's salary payment details and requested you consider this for deduction of TDS then only you shall consider that and deduct TDS from November'13 equally.
