tds

This query is : Resolved

22 November 2009 plz tell me what is the reason for deducting tds on salary only at the time of payment where as in other case (like rent contract) it is "at the time of payment or credit in books"

22 November 2009 This is as per requirement of section 192B for salary and section 194I for tds on rent, under Income Tax Act.

22 November 2009 Because this is specially provided in the section 192B and 194I accordingly. But it seems that law maker have given more relaxation for TDS on salary unlike the TDS on any other item Expense get disallowed if TDS not deducted / or Not paid. But in case of salay exp will not be disallowed even if TDS is not deducted / not paid.
I think that it because the calculation of the TDS is bit difficult as it the average rate as compare to rent or any other exp for which rate are fixed

23 November 2009 Can anyone explain me with an example.
