TAN login error even after approving pending action from PAN login worklist

This query is : Resolved

30 April 2022 I have registered TAN of the assessee in the income tax portal and created login id and password successfully. I have also approved the pending action in work-list of the assessee's PAN login. Still when I am trying to login, following error message is being displayed : "The e-filing account associated with the above User Id has not been activated, kindly activate your user ID to login to e-filing portal." Can anyone please advise on the issue

11 July 2024 It seems like you are encountering an issue with activating your e-filing account on the Income Tax portal despite having registered the TAN successfully. Here are some steps and considerations that may help resolve this issue:

1. **Check Activation Link:** When you registered the TAN and created the login ID and password, you should have received an activation link or code in your registered email address or mobile number. Make sure you have clicked on the activation link or entered the code if required. This step is crucial to activate your e-filing account fully.

2. **Clear Browser Cache and Cookies:** Sometimes, issues can arise due to stored cache and cookies in your web browser. Try clearing your browser's cache and cookies and then attempt to log in again. This ensures that you are accessing the latest version of the Income Tax portal.

3. **Verify Mobile Number and Email:** Ensure that the mobile number and email address registered during the TAN registration process are correct and accessible. If there is a verification step pending (like OTP verification), make sure you complete it.

4. **Resend Activation Link:** If you did not receive the activation link or code initially, check for an option to resend it on the Income Tax portal login page. Use this option to resend the activation link/code to your registered email or mobile number.

5. **Contact Helpdesk:** If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it's advisable to contact the Income Tax e-filing helpdesk for assistance. They can provide specific guidance or troubleshoot the issue further. You can find the contact details for the helpdesk on the Income Tax portal itself.

6. **Use Digital Signature Certificate (DSC):** If you have a DSC (Digital Signature Certificate), consider using it for login instead of the user ID and password. Sometimes, this method can bypass certain activation issues.

7. **Try Different Browser/Device:** In rare cases, certain browser configurations or device settings may cause login issues. Try accessing the Income Tax portal from a different web browser or device to see if the problem persists.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's crucial to seek direct assistance from the Income Tax department helpdesk. They can provide specific guidance tailored to your situation and ensure that your e-filing account is activated correctly.
