I do part time accounts book writing work upto finalization in 2-3 firms, however, I would like to know that if I want to register myself as a "Sole Proprietor" and undertake jobs like accounts book-writing, tds/service tax return filing, etc. then, what are the legal requirements (Sole Proprietor License, Service Tax registration if at all required) for such registration as I live in Mumbai. This is because, if I have to open a bank account in my Sole proprietor's name for e.g. "T K Associates", then, the bank may require some proof for the same. Pls. reply.

You just have to take gumasta in the name of your firm, apply for pan in the name of ur firm & when ur turnover exceeds the limit of service tax liability you have to register for the same.
