07 August 2011 Face value share value increase means higher creditability of company. it is not depend on book value. it may change or not.

18 August 2011 it helps in creation of shareholoders wealth in the form of market capitalisation.
Coal India is number 1 company not because it has higher turnover but it has more mkt capitalisation than Reliance (now number 2). like Anoop said it shows credibility of the company the market sentiments how people think of coal india and indicates people are optimistic bout companies performance.
