Sir/Madam, I wish to clarify one doubt regarding service Tax exeption.i.e. Any special exemption is available to a an Association which was registered under the society Act from the liability of paying Service tax? ex:Lions Cottage is availing Maintenance services from a registered(under Service Tax) Service Provider. The Serivice Provider has raised the invoice with service tax.But the Association wants to get the exemption from the Service Tax liability. Is it possible under service Tax Act? There is no such exemption to Socities. The exemption is available only to UN & International Agencies, SEZ & SEZ developers and foreign diplomatic missions, family members of such diplomatic missions.
