10 July 2024 For proprietorship concerns filing monthly PF (Provident Fund) and ESI (Employee State Insurance) returns, there is indeed a requirement to file annual returns as well. Here’s a detailed guide on the annual returns for PF and ESI and how to file them online:

### PF (Provident Fund) Annual Return

**Form Required:**
- The annual return for PF is filed using Form 9 (Revised). This form is used to declare the employee details, including new joinings, exits, and contributions made throughout the year.

**Process to File Online:**
1. **Login to PF Portal:** Visit the EPFO (Employees' Provident Fund Organisation) portal at https://www.epfindia.gov.in/.
2. **Employer Login:** Use your Employer or Establishment's login credentials to access the portal.
3. **Navigate to Form 9:** Under the 'Online Services' menu, select 'For Employers' and then 'Annual Return (Form 9)'.
4. **Fill Details:** Enter the required details in Form 9. This includes employee details, contribution details, and any other relevant information for the entire financial year.
5. **Submit Form 9:** After filling out the form completely and accurately, submit it through the online portal.
6. **Acknowledgment:** Upon successful submission, you will receive an acknowledgment or receipt confirming the submission of Form 9.

### ESI (Employee State Insurance) Annual Return

**Form Required:**
- The annual return for ESI is filed using Form 6. This form consolidates the employee-wise ESI contributions made throughout the year.

**Process to File Online:**
1. **Login to ESIC Portal:** Visit the ESIC (Employees' State Insurance Corporation) portal at https://www.esic.in/.
2. **Employer Login:** Use your Employer or Establishment's login credentials to access the employer portal.
3. **Navigate to Form 6:** Look for the option to file 'Annual Return (Form 6)' under the 'File Monthly Contribution' menu or similar section.
4. **Fill Details:** Enter the required details in Form 6. This includes employee details, contribution details, and other necessary information for the entire financial year.
5. **Upload Form 6:** Attach any supporting documents or declarations as required and upload Form 6 on the portal.
6. **Submit and Acknowledge:** After verification, submit the form. You will receive an acknowledgment or receipt confirming the submission of Form 6.

### Important Points to Remember:
- **Due Date:** The due date for filing Form 9 (PF) and Form 6 (ESI) is usually 30th April of the following year for the previous financial year.
- **Accuracy:** Ensure all details entered are accurate and match the records maintained by your establishment.
- **Penalties:** Late filing of annual returns may attract penalties, so it's crucial to file on time to avoid penalties and maintain compliance.

By following these steps, you can ensure timely filing of annual PF and ESI returns for your proprietorship concern. If you encounter any specific issues or complexities, consulting with a PF and ESI consultant or legal advisor would be beneficial.
