10 September 2012 Dear Sir / Ma'am,

My cousin brother is running a factory where the business acumen is to polish/shine metals, so he has workers working for him in his factory where he pays wages to them by cash. Now since he is a proprietor in his company, he is going to register for a Profession Tax for himself.

But my question is whether does he need to apply for PTEC or PTRC nos??

Also if he applies for any one of them, does he also need to pay PT for the workers whom he is making payment to as wages in cash??

His business is in Maharashtra.

12 September 2012 Individual carrying business in Maharashtra has to obtain Enrollment certificate in his name.
If salary paid is exceeding Rs. 5000/- P.M. to any of employee he has to obtain registration and pay tax by deducting out of salary as per provisions of under Maharashtra Profession Act.
