one of my friend having Sir Name "Daglia" applied for PAN Card but wrongly wrote "Gadlia" as Sirname and the PAN Card issued as per the Sir Name "Gadlia" than he made correction in the PAN Card by submitting Form 49B but the PAN No. Remained the same My Ques. Are - 1. Can the PAN No. be corrected? 2. or if not, Than with which Sirname he should file his Return? 3. Is there any difference in the answer of Que. No.-2 if he files E-Return? 4. The TDS of that person is deducted with the Sir Name "Jain" would there be any problem in claiming TDS Refund?

1. PAN details can be corrected by giving necessary supporting documents showing correct name of the assessee. This should be applied in Form "Request For New PAN Card Or / And Changes Or Correction in PAN Data". A new PAN card will be then issued to the assessee with correct name.
2. The assessee should file the return showing his correct name only. Simultaneously he should apply for the correction of PAN data without any delay.
3. Same procedure to be followed in case of e-filing also.
4. No problem in claiming credit for tax deducted as the same is done on the basis of PAN & not assesse's name.
