10 April 2011 NSC withdrawn from deptt, now company is owner of NSC & it want to sale out the NSC,

But How

09 August 2024 Transferring or selling National Savings Certificates (NSCs) involves a specific procedure, as these certificates are typically non-transferable instruments. Here’s how you can handle the situation if a company wishes to sell or transfer an NSC:

### **1. **Understanding Transferability of NSCs**

- **NSCs are Generally Non-Transferable:** NSCs are usually non-transferable, meaning they cannot be transferred from one person to another. This includes transfers between individuals and entities, such as from an individual to a company or between companies.
- **Exception:** In some rare cases, there might be provisions for transfer under specific circumstances, but this is not common and typically requires direct authorization from the issuing authority.

### **2. **Procedure for NSC Withdrawal and Sale**

If your company has withdrawn the NSCs and is considering selling them, follow these general steps:

#### **a. Withdrawal Process**

1. **NSC Withdrawal Request:**
- Submit a withdrawal request at the post office where the NSC was originally purchased. The request should include the NSC certificates and any necessary identification or authorization documents.
- If the NSC is in the name of the company, ensure that the company’s authorized signatory signs the withdrawal form.

2. **Reissue of NSC in the Company’s Name:**
- If the NSC was originally in the name of an individual and has been withdrawn, it must be reissued in the name of the company. This typically involves re-investing or issuing new certificates in the company’s name.

#### **b. Selling NSCs**

1. **Consult with Authorities:**
- Since NSCs are usually non-transferable, you should consult with the post office or relevant financial institution to understand if there are any specific provisions or exceptions for selling or transferring NSCs.

2. **Alternatives to Selling:**
- If NSCs cannot be sold, the company might consider redeeming the certificates and receiving the maturity amount. The redemption process will involve submitting the NSCs and completing the necessary forms at the post office.

3. **Redemption Process:**
- To redeem the NSCs, visit the post office with the original NSCs, the withdrawal request form, and any other required documentation. The maturity amount will be paid to the company, which can then be used as per company requirements.

4. **Accounting and Documentation:**
- Maintain proper records of the redemption process, including receipts and correspondence with the post office. This is crucial for accounting and auditing purposes.

### **3. **Summary**

- **NSCs are generally non-transferable**: Direct sale or transfer is typically not permitted.
- **Withdraw and Redeem**: The most common approach is to withdraw and redeem the NSCs, then use the proceeds as needed.
- **Consult with Post Office**: Verify specific procedures or exceptions with the post office or financial institution where the NSCs were purchased.

### **Additional Steps**

- **Legal and Financial Advice**: Consult with legal and financial advisors to ensure compliance with regulations and to explore any potential alternatives.
- **Check Latest Regulations**: Ensure that you are following the most current rules and procedures, as regulations may change.

For detailed and up-to-date information, directly contacting the issuing authority or post office and consulting with financial experts is recommended.
