11 June 2011 Respected Experts..
I want to share my problem regarding my career. I have completed CA during my articleship in Nov 2010 then I enrolled myself in Campus placements. Fortunatly I also got job there. Now as I had started my job in that company, seniors just neglects me & even after 2 months i have not been given any work assignments on the other hand a girl also recruited with me is given a seprate treatment & she has been given core work of finance (m also in finance dept but my work assignment was project system). There is very much clear dicriminations i am feeling. Talking to my seniors i only gets the answer u have to do the work of projects but still after so much time i am not having any work.

I just want to ask what should I do as I am feeling very much mental dippression. should I leave the Job? OR what should I do? Will this not affect my career as this is just resulting in loosing my moral.
Please help me.

11 June 2011 Friend, this is industry to so..unfortunate but true.

I suggest you talk directly to you reporting boss..what plans they have for you.

If you still feel things are not working, you ned to re-think.

Dont worry about job..You are a CA, that too who completed his CA during articleship.

Do not compromise on your self - respect.

Thanks

03 August 2024 I'm sorry to hear you're going through this challenging situation. Career issues can be quite stressful, especially when you're dealing with discrimination and lack of meaningful work. Here’s some advice that might help you navigate this situation:

### 1. **Assess the Situation Objectively**
- **Document Everything:** Keep detailed notes of your work assignments, interactions with seniors, and any instances of discrimination. This can be useful if you decide to escalate the matter.
- **Seek Feedback:** Try to get constructive feedback on your performance and understand if there are any areas where you might improve or skills you might need to develop.

### 2. **Consider Internal Options**
- **Talk to HR:** If you haven’t already, escalate the issue to your Human Resources (HR) department. They are typically responsible for handling workplace issues and might be able to mediate the situation.
- **Internal Transfer:** If possible, consider requesting a transfer to a different department or team where you might get more meaningful work.

### 3. **Evaluate Your Career Goals**
- **Long-Term Impact:** Think about how this job fits into your long-term career goals. Sometimes, a less-than-ideal job might be a stepping stone to better opportunities.
- **Skill Development:** Assess whether you can still develop valuable skills in your current role, even if the work is not what you initially expected.

### 4. **Decide on Leaving**
- **Plan Ahead:** If you decide to leave, ensure you have a plan in place. Start looking for new opportunities and secure a new job before resigning if possible.
- **Short-Term vs. Long-Term Impact:** Consider how quitting might affect your resume and career trajectory. While it’s common to have short tenures early in your career, frequent job changes might raise concerns for future employers.

### 5. **Seek Support**
- **Professional Advice:** Consider talking to a career coach or mentor for personalized advice and guidance.
- **Mental Health:** If you're experiencing mental distress, seeking support from a mental health professional can be beneficial. They can help you manage stress and make informed decisions.

### 6. **Addressing Discrimination**
- **Formal Complaint:** If you believe you’re experiencing discrimination, you might need to file a formal complaint with HR or follow the company's grievance procedures.
- **Legal Advice:** In severe cases, seeking legal advice might be necessary to understand your rights and options.

### Summary

- **Document Your Situation:** Keep a record of your experiences.
- **Explore Internal Solutions:** Talk to HR or consider internal transfers.
- **Plan Your Exit:** If you decide to leave, do so strategically with a new job lined up.
- **Seek Professional Guidance:** Consult with a career coach or counselor for support.

Ultimately, your well-being and career satisfaction are crucial. It’s important to address these issues proactively and make decisions that align with your long-term goals and mental health.
