23 June 2008 Hi,

we were giving discount to our customers. Is luxury tax chargeable on after discount amount or on gross amount (before discount price)
please clarify

if u run a hotel, l.t. will be charged after discount.

27 June 2008 luxury tax is usually charged by govt. on turnover of a hotelier or others. assessee is allowed to recover it from customers. now u decide what amt u think is ur turnover, over which u will pay l.t. to govt. i am sure u would be agree that it is amt after discount given in bill.
