House property

30 December 2014 Sir,
If a person has purchased a house on her name but a loan for that is taken her spouse/ relative name , can she claim deduction of interest pain on that loan?

if not then who can claim it?

30 December 2014 No she can not take the deduction.

To get the benefit of this deduction Loan and House both has to be in the name of the assessee (even though he/she is joint owner in the house)

30 December 2014 no property owner and payer will be the same when you take deduction.


30 December 2014 for claiming deduction u/s 24(b) assessee himself needs to take loan and pay int on such house property.so in this case it will not be allowed.
