28 January 2011 I want to ask that if we secure 60 or more than 60 in Accounts and CAFM both then can we gain Exemption or not in both subject.. And if we secure 60 or more in Account and Law i.e. in series than we can gain exemption or not in both subjects.. Plz reply..

21 July 2024 Yes, it is possible to obtain exemptions in two papers at the same time within one group of IPCC (Integrated Professional Competence Course), now known as Intermediate (IPC) under the Chartered Accountancy (CA) curriculum. Here’s how it typically works:

1. **Exemption Criteria**: To qualify for an exemption in a particular subject, you generally need to score 60% or more in that subject in a single attempt.

2. **Multiple Exemptions in One Group**: If you score 60% or more in both Accounts and CAFM (Cost Accounting and Financial Management) papers within the same attempt (in the same group), you can receive exemptions for both subjects.

3. **Example Scenarios**:
- If you score 60 or more in Accounts and CAFM in the same attempt, you will be exempt from appearing for these subjects in future attempts within the validity period of the exemption.
- Similarly, if you score 60 or more in Accounts and Law in the same attempt, you can also gain exemptions in both subjects.

4. **Validity of Exemptions**: Exemptions are typically valid for a certain number of attempts or a specified period, depending on the policies of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

5. **Documentation and Application**: You will need to apply for exemptions through the official channels provided by ICAI after receiving your results. This usually involves submitting the relevant documents and paying any applicable fees.

6. **Consultation**: If you have specific questions regarding exemptions, it’s advisable to consult with your training principal, mentor, or refer to the official guidance provided by ICAI.

In summary, it is possible to secure exemptions in multiple subjects within the same group (e.g., Accounts and CAFM) if you meet the minimum score requirements in each subject. Ensure you understand the specific rules and procedures for claiming exemptions as per the latest guidelines from ICAI.
