CPE Credit

This query is : Resolved

25 February 2010 Dear Experts
I have a query about cpe credit. My CPE Credit is as follows: 2008-32 Hrs 2009-19 Hrs. & 2010-6 hrs to date thru structured learning & unstructured is 2008-3yrs only. As the requirement is as follows :
1) in a period of 3 years from the calender year 2008 one has to complete Min 20 hrs of structured learning, which i have completed in 2008 whereas there is a 1 hour shortfall in the year 2009. however as the date was extended till 31.01.2010 i had attended cpe program of 6 hrs from a one day's program.
Now My queries are
1) whether in the CPE hour gained through 1 days program, whether only shortfall taken for the year 2009 or the full 6 hrs taken to the year 2009?
2) whatever be the adjustment of hours for any years whether any declaration or written communication has to be made with S.I.R.C or ICAI if yes whether there is any time limits etc., or any formats for the same.

25 February 2010 You have to fill the format:

26 February 2010 Dear sir,
please go thru my query once again, i am asking about adjusting of hrs for short fall in structured learing & not the unstructured ones in any year and for which date has been extended.

20 July 2024 Based on your queries regarding CPE (Continuing Professional Education) credits for the years, here are the clarifications:

### 1. Adjustment of CPE Hours for 2009

- You mentioned completing 19 hours of structured learning in 2009, with a shortfall of 1 hour. Later, you attended a 6-hour CPE program in 2010, which was before the extended deadline of January 31, 2010.
- Typically, when you attend a CPE program, the hours earned are counted towards the calendar year in which the program took place. Therefore:
- The 6 hours from the one-day program should be counted towards the year 2010, not 2009.
- This means that for the year 2009, you still have a shortfall of 1 hour of structured learning unless you attended an additional hour of CPE in 2009.

### 2. Reporting to S.I.R.C. or ICAI

- Generally, reporting or adjustment of CPE hours is managed through the appropriate regulatory body (such as ICAI).
- If there are discrepancies or adjustments needed in your CPE hours, it's good practice to maintain records of the CPE programs attended, certificates earned, and any correspondence related to CPE credits.
- If you need to make adjustments or corrections to your CPE record, you may need to communicate this with the local regulatory body (S.I.R.C. or ICAI). There might be specific forms or procedures for reporting these adjustments.
- It's important to adhere to any deadlines or time limits specified by the regulatory body for reporting CPE credits or making adjustments.

### Steps to Take:

1. **Review Documentation**: Gather all certificates and records of CPE programs attended for the relevant years

2. **Calculate Shortfalls**: Determine if there are any shortfalls in CPE hours for each year based on the regulations and requirements.

3. **Contact Regulatory Body**: If adjustments are needed (such as reporting the correct CPE hours or addressing any discrepancies), reach out to the S.I.R.C. or ICAI. They can provide guidance on the specific process, forms (if any), and deadlines for reporting.

4. **Maintain Records**: Keep copies of any communications, forms submitted, and acknowledgments from the regulatory body for your records.

By following these steps, you can ensure compliance with CPE requirements and address any issues related to CPE credits effectively. If in doubt, consulting directly with the regulatory body or seeking guidance from a professional advisor specializing in CPE compliance can be beneficial.
