A company is engaged in manufacturing. Also some job works of same kind of products but using some other alloy. The main product is not excisable. For the job works they are receiving Service charges and service tax. For the main product the raw material cost includes Excise duty.
The raw material purchased was not used to provide the job work. But both the products are manufactured in the same factory using the same machineries.
Can the company claim input tax credit for the excise duty paid on raw materials procured for manufacturing non-excisable goods while paying the service tax received for job work?

No credit on only inputs used in manuifacture of excisable goods are eligible., However the capital goods excise duty credit wouldbe be available as the sameis used in provding the taxable services.,
