tds deduction- threshold limit

firm tds on contractors limit 1000000/- over for the month dec'07.

In previous tds rate 2.06 deducted. From Jan'08 onwards 2.266 deducted (with surcharge).

In present month bills deducted tds with surcharges, in previous bills also changed with surchage (2.06 instead of 2.266)

my query is total bills effected 2.266 or above 10laks bills only?

Is the service tax applicable to monthly subscription amount payable by subscriber?

Is there any limit in the rate that can be charged on Royalties? Also, is there any minimun or maximum time limit for which a royalty agreement can be made?

Last attempt for CA inter

i want this to be clarified. One of my friends registered with in Old CA inter and is yet to complete the same.I came across some news that for Ca inter nov 2007 is the last attempt. and some say it is may 2008. e even the SIRC people cannot clarify correctly.
kindly provide clarity on this contentous issue.

Shares in both BSE and NSE

Hi Experts
Why There are certain shares listed in both BSE and NSE. What is the logic behind the same share being available in both the exchanges? Will the price of a share in both the exchanges be same? Is it possible to buy the share in one exchange and sell it in another exchange?

Is Tax audit and statutoty audit the same?

I know that Income tax Act 44AB governs Tax audit. Then what is Statutory audit? If they are different Can a tax auditor be a Statutoty auditor of the same company?
