06 December 2012 We are Trust (Charitable Society ) registered under 12AA and we have hired one premises on which we are paying rent.In this case from july onward our land lord is raising bill + service tax , saying that service tax on rent is applicable from july. so what to do now...wheather we are required to pay service tax or not ...kindly give answer with applicable and relevant sections ? Thank you

06 December 2012 Sir., Though u are a charitable trust registered under sec 12A, as you are the service receiver., you are liable to pay the service tax., which is raised by your landlord. and there are no perticular sections., as in the negative list it is not excluded

06 December 2012 @Bhargav...whether there is any amendment in july...Because lanlord is saying that because of notification/circular he is charging service tax and gaurav we are provide tax free services...?

06 December 2012 As though there is no amendment in the law regarding this.,
but the society is awakening from the 1.7.2012 point as it says the negative list., the landlord will be liable to service tax even before 1.7.2012
