Ssi registration

We are into manufacturing of brandedready made garmenst. In the current year we will be SSI but from next year we have to get ourselves registerd under Excise. So, I want to know that wether we have to do provisional registration of SSI or to g for prmanent registraion. In both cases what is the procedurefor same alongwith the form no..

SSI registration is to be done with District INdustries Centre of your city. for industries who are not yet in existance and to be established provisional is issued and for running industries permanent is issued.

for excise purpose, SSI does not means the regn with DIC, but its a turnover based calculation, where every unit is eligible for 150 lacs 1st exemption as SSI ( not related to DIC issued certificate but turnover of manufacturing goods), however in this turnover branded goods and export is not counted.

For branded goods clearance SSI exemption is not available.

Sir can you please clarify me because as per my research i come to know that if we are manufacturing goods using others brand name then we can't avail SSI exemption. But in our case we are manufacturing branded goods by usig our brand name. So as per this we can claim SSI exemption and we are also covered under Legal Metrology Act.. Please confirm the same if Iam wrong anywhere..

Dear Ankit,

Goods manufactured with other's brand name SSI exemption is not available. If goods manufactured with own brand name then SSI exemption is available. A unit is entitled for exemption only if its turnover is previous year was less than Rs. 4 crores.

Respected Arun ji,

Thanks for the confirmation but i have read somewhere that for branded ready made garments the turnover in the previous year should be less than 8.9croes instead of 4crores. This was for particular one year in 11-12 i.e., when excise came into force in garments or is applicable for future years as well..

in my opinion, 4cr turnover is the limit.

Dear Ankit ji,

If you are cleared the goods on MRP based then value of clearnce was less than Rs. 8.85 Crores and clearnce of assessable value less than Rs. 4 Crores.

Respected Arun ji,

The abatement on it has changed from 55% to 70%. So, MRP ased clearnce is within 8.85crores then clearannce of asessabla value will be automatically less than 4crores.Secondly, shoud I go for provisional SSI registration or permananet resgistration.
