Let the people at ICAI decide about this.
I guess they are more competent enough to decide upon such issues.
Thanks

a student may pass CPT luckily by getting 100 marks.students who have passed like this in CPT will definitely face problems in IPCC.ICAI IS LOOKIN FOR MONEY, FORGETTING THE STANDARDS IN FOUNDATION.(BUT FROM IPCC ONWARDS STANDARDS ARE EXCELLENT).ICAI IS CHEATING STUDENTS BY ATTRACTING STUDENTSLIKE THIS.STUDENTS MAY MISINTERPRET CA COURSE AS A WHOLE.WE CANT COMPARE CPT AND IPCC.THE STANDARDS ARE VERY GOOD IN IPCC AND IN CPT IT IS COMPLETELY OPPOSITE.......

The purpose of introducing CPT in 2006, was to attract more students(read bright students) towards the Chartered Accountancy Course which was otherwise perceived as exceedingly arduous by the student community. The passing requirements in individual subjects as in PE-I does not exist in CPT which might have proved to be boon for many in clearing the examinations. But, in CA course, you pass through three filters and students before joining must be aware of the standards there are required to maintain in getting through all the levels successfully.

hmm.......the format of cpt is in very resemblence with the format of CAT or IIT question paper taht is they all are MCQ ,but wat missess in CPT is the level of Thoughness as observed in CAT or IIT. I think ICAI too knows this and it is just waiting for right movement to Make CPT a level playing exa m,...

i think PE-1 is better than cpt
in PE-1 you are required to clear with minimun 40 marks in each paper making 50% in aggregate. in cpt many student leave even a whole subject because there is no as such requirment to secure in 40 marks in each paper.so quality not comes

I dont agree with Mr. Kundan as CA inter is equal to 50% CA and M.Com is just a master degree which you can get from anywhere even in distance and without hard work.
And CA Inter is somewhat which require hard work and commitment.

Yeah!!! It would be great if CPT is replaced with PE-I and also there should be an entrance exam (even before PE-I) for the students with science background so that they could lay a stronger foundation... I find it a bit difficullt to digest the fact that this course is seriously over populated... (No issues wid da science students... it is just mah bit of advice)

FILTERATION OF STUDENTS SHOULD BE DONE FROM THE BEGINNING.WE HAVE SEEN MANY COACHING CENTRES COMING ONLY FOR CPT COACHING.AND ONE THING CA IS A PROFESSIONAL COURSE BUT NOT A BUSINESS.SELFISH PEOPLE ARE TURNING CA IN TO BUSINESS IN THE NAME OF CPT COACHING.A STUDENT WHO HAVE PASSED CPT IS FEELING AS IF HE /SHE HAD CLEARED CA FINAL AND PASSING OUT COMMENTS LIKE EH!CA MEIN KYA HEIN????........AND THE PARENTS OF STUDENTS ARE ON CLOUD 9.BUT IPCC IS THE BEGINNING FOR CA.ICAI SAYS IPCC AS AN INTERMEDIATE STAGE,BUT THE FACT IS THE REAL SUBJECT STARTS FROM IPCC.A STUDENT WHO GOT ALL INDIA RANK IN CPT FAILED IN IPCC MAY 2010.THIS SHOWS CLEARLY THAT CPT IS BELOW BELOW BELOW STANDARDS........
