TO A MIND THAT IS STILL,,THE WHOLE WORLD SURRENDERS................
That's a loose translation of a famous sanskrit proverb, "Jitam jagat kena mano hi yena", which means, "One who has conquered his mind, has indeed conquered the whole world." Since you have started this thread, would you also please explain to us this art of controlling the mind, which is quite difficult to control due to constant invasion of lakhs of thoughts ?

Controlling ones mind is the most easiest looking toughest job...Once when Akbar asked Birbal -tell me something which could make a happy man sad and a sad person happy, He(Birbal) just wrote 'Ye din hamesha nahi rahenge".
My funda to control my mind is the same Mr. Gandhi when I become angry or irritated or very much happy or in any emotion which I need to control I use to say 'Don't worry dear ye din hamesha nai rahenge..
This is my way although might be it differs from person to person.
Quiet an intelligent answer, Priyanka. I too have this kind of understanding. I just wanted to test whether you were really mindful of the quote while posting it or just casually posted it, but the answer you gave shows that you really aspire for 'sthitpragnata' as mentioned in the Bhagvad Gita by Lord Krishna to Arjuna.
Let me tell you one similar story.
Once upon a time there was one Queen who was widow. She only had one son, who was quite young. When queen was alive, son had no responsibilities to rule the kingdom. Queen instilled good values in him and as a result, he was morally sound. Queen gave him one locket to wear around neck and within that locket, there was some small note. She advised him to read that note when times are extremely favourable or unfavourable. Since, prince was young and immature, he didn,t care about the note.
Times changed...the Queen died... Now, the kingdom was left with no ruler and the prince was now under the influence of bad company. So, other kings took advantage of this and tookover the kingdom, leaving the prince with no one to take care of...In the bad times, he was reminded of his mother's teachings preserved in the locket. He opened it, which read as follows "Akhir yeh din bhi chala jayega...". This, gave him enough strength to gather a huge army and fight again for the wrongfully captured kingdom. He was sucessful in his endeavour of attaining his kingdom. Now, he was again enjoying good things of life. But, in good times, he was again reminded of his mother's teachings :- "Akhir yeh din bhi chala jayega...".
So, Priyanka, your Akbar-Birbal story and this story give us the same mantra, which helps us to keep our mind stable in all circumstances.

I don't post quotes so frequently but the two quotes which I typed...I seriously believe in-
1) Always be a first rate example of yourself, then being a second rated version of anyone else.
2) TO A MIND THAT IS STILL,,THE WHOLE WORLD SURRENDERS............
Further thanks for you appreciation and thoughtfulness.
