30 September 2013A company was incorporated in November 2012. It has valid PAN number. The total invoiced income till now is just more than 2 lakh rupees. The company doesnot have service tax number till now. Should it be suggested to apply for the service tax number. Now is there any chance of impounding fines!!!!

Dear Sir, Service Tax is also applicable on services provided by you. As per rules you can take ST registration at any time but it is mandatory for you to take service tax registration when value of taxable services provided by you exceeds Rs. 9 Lacs. As per my opinion you should apply for ST when your taxable services exceeds Rs. 9 Lacs. Now you are not impounding to any fine.

Rightly suggested by CA Vivek Goyal. You have noting to worry till your billing reach Rs. 9 Lakh at any time.
