I am 32yrs aged b.com graduate having 7+ years experience in accounts, can anyone suggest me whether it is advisable to choose icwa?

go it for ...it is distance learning mode and would not affect ur present job....only training requirements like gd/bc and computer training you have to allot time

ICWAI it is always advisbale to do it ...
Ur also having touch with the accounts so it will be easier to do ICWAI so go for it

Yeah you can choose between any correspondence course since I assume you cannot leave your work now. I would have asked you to go for Ca but then 3 and half year training might not be possible for you. CMA, CS or MBA through correspondence are your best options. Mind you that CMA requires 3 years of training in new course. Check whether you can get that exempted through your work experience. I think with the experience that you have got, you can complete the course without much difficulty. Bare in mind that managing work and study is difficult specially when you work to earn(and not training). If you are going ahead with it make up a schedule of time required.
Keep some time for GD & Seionar, not more than four individual days during the first year.
Keep some time for Computer classes which goes on for until two months. I managed that by opting extreme morning shift and frankly speaking by bunking many of the classes.
Of course you have to write papers and that's a really boring job and thus becomes time consuming. People delay their attempts due to lousyiness in writing those papers. This will be applicable for both exams-intermediate and final.
Then for finals you have to take out time for Modular training only of about 15 days. You have to write a dissertation and send CC papers. That's all.
You will need 2 hours of daily study on week days and 6 hours of study on weekends and 1 month of solid preparation before exam. That will see you through.
THE CONCERN FOR ME IS MANAGING WORK WITH STUDIES. I AM NOT SAYING THAT'S DIFFICULT BUT PEOPLE GET FRUSTRATED WITH ALL THAT WORK.
But if you are motivated believe me you are going to get yourself a good degree and a prefix to your name i.e.CMA.

the most suitable course for working people is icwai itself
and i always praise icwai due to the fact that unlike other courses there are not much formalities involved in it
however in finals u have to struggle a bit to arrange for computer classes and MT
rest is all manageable

I AM AN ICWAI TOO. please listen to what i say and decide for your self. also consider all that has been said above and then take abalanced decision.
first and foremost , cwa has long long long ago lost its sheen. BCOM correspondence guys and 12 fail students are really earning more than cwas. a cwa is not respected or valued in the industry. a cwa is not able to earn what even a ipcc or ca inter guy earns.
the reason for this degradation is the institute and sttudents as also the level of difficulty in exams. a lot lof training and coaching and test papers and other procedures were there previously for this course and the institute has done away with all of these. The subjects were shortened and made too small and easy. The level of difficulty involved was more than that of the ca during te 1980s. But every thing is diluted today and even an illiterate will pass CWA inter in first attempt and also secure a rank if he is merely present for 6 exams. once it was 8 tough exam that were difficult to pass. even an lkg child can answer silly questions asked in todays cwa inter exams. There are too many malpractices permitted in todays cwa exams unlike cs and ca. Invigilators themself allow students to copy from books and write cwa exams as it regularly happened in my centre with full knopwledge of exam in charge at the centre.
In a bid to match up the cwas required in industry , the useless institute has raised pass percentage drastically resulting in lots of cwas lacking in knowledge and holding a certificate alone.
The result ? Go to an interview and say I am CWA, the security gaurd will shoo you away as if you were a DOG. This is precisely what happened to me in a few interviews.
due to dilution of standards by institute, respect and salary for cwa has fallen like anything and taking up sheep or pig rearing would be a far too better profession than doing CWA. IF YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR TIME ,MONEY, ENERGY AND ALSO LOOSE YOUR PRESENT LEVEL OF INTELLECT, PLEASE JOIN AND DO THE USELESS NONSENSE CALLED CWA.
If not please do CA. they still maintain good standards. You dont have options.
Rather than doing a nonsense timepass like cwa one can have sleeping pills and commit suicide.
THIS IS REALITY TODAY AND I REQUEST ALL TO WAKE UP TO THIS AND NOT LIVE IN ADREAM WORLD AND DREAM OF 6 DIGIT AND 7 DIGIT PACKAGES...... NOW A DAYS CWA ARE NO WHERE RESPECTED.

my elder brother has just 4 year post qualification as a cwa and his package is 15lpa
it depends on the person that how far he grows
if you have not growed it is only you who is responsible not the icwai institute or icwai degree
dont insult icwa couse by such analysis

thats because of his experience and not because of his cwa. also because of his other qualifications and excellent scores. not because of his cwa. without seeing the real plight of the institute and exams dont comment in general terms. the course and curriculam have been terribly diluted and too much malpractices perrmitted by the institute now a days. I know the syllabus of the past and the syllabus today . its nothing absolutely. people not knowing basic golden rules are also cwas these days. please wake up and visit the exam centres to assess the situation yourself. please compare the syllabus and assess for yourself. which other professional course asks you one mark questions and silly match the following, true or false etc in final exams. Dont blame others without assessing the present situation. Your brother was successful because of field experience and his domain. also his other qualifications and score. if you really ask him he too is likely to say that cwa has done pretty little to improve his CTC.

i am in the field and experience the syllabus and exams and curriculums on daily basis . this helps me assess the students , the institute and exams on an ongoing basis. if i am totally out of field you can call it base less analysys. i know the subjects and exam pattern etc of cs , ca and cwa. both ca nad cs continue to amintain good sttandards and difficulty level in exams where as cwa has lost it miserably. past generation cwa s may be respected and valued (like your brother) because they cleared tough exams and became cma. but that is gone now. both syllabus and and exams and invigilation every thing totally diluted in standards. present generation cma s are no longer respected because all private ccompanies are aware of the whole scale liqudation in standards by cwa institute, i have written about this and complained to institute lots of time but they ignore. what to do

I agree with Ravi khanal. In some cases I have seen insane amount of packages for ICWAI and many times bettering CA. How come you experienced so akhilanda. It is still a reputed course which can be passed easily by a student doing CA but not by other people. It is definitely better than bcom and sheep rearing. I don't know how can someone have such a bad experience. I am not saying you are lying but it seems hard to believe. I was offered a 2 lacs package by BSNL unit after completing my intermedite exam and they were ready to provide me with training certificate as well. I turned it down only because I found the package insufficient at that time(just before recession came). A CMA would not get less than 4 lacs a year and I have seen numerous examples of people working at 7-9 lakhs package a year mostly in banking and service sector. These packages are better than what many engineers get. So blasting ICWAI course is not right. But I suggest the person should inquire first about campus placement and current market trend before applying for admission becuase akhilanda may be proved correct in current senario.
Also please can someone make a complaint about this spammer. He is writing that advert of his on almost every post. Weird way of advertising and money earning. I would have never bought from such a place even if I was in the habit of wearing a bikini. Lolz

Once again I agree with Ravi Khanal. Hey Ravi have you cleared CMA and did it make any difference to your job prospects. If you can give some numerical fig. of how much a ICWA can earn in current scenario than it would be highly helpful for the person starting this post.Just a guess.Don't need to be specific.
