can a student appear for exams in a region other than were he is registered? any documents other than the admit card need to be carried?

Yes, he can. Exam centre based on which centre u have opted in exam form but not based on region of registration. Admit card alone is enough.

At the time of making application for writing examination, you are given list of exam centres which you wish to select. Accordingly, its your choice to write examination in part of the country.
Download copy of admit card, it suffices. However, in your own interest carry any valid identity card including ICAIs student identity card or Election ID card or DL etc...!!

Yes Nisha, you can choose other center located in other region. and no need to carry other than Admit card.
