Credit of Service tax

Dear All,

Can anyone tell me that whether credit of service tax is allowed in case where we perform only the packing,labelling & branding activity on the good purchased. the said activity is considered as deemed manufacture in our case.

Dear Gaurav

First of all you ensure are you come in the catagory of a manufacturer? If yes then you can claim the credit of service tax paid in relation to business activities.

In both condition you can take cenvat credit on input services. If your activity is manufacture and you are paying Excise duty or your activity is service and you are paying service tax.
