Hello there I am A DOCTOR WORKING IN A HOSPITAL RUN BY THE DELHI GOVERNMENT IN DELHI BUT I RESIDE ON RENT IN GURGAON. AFTER THIS YEARS RULE MANDATING FURNISHING OF PAN CARD NUMBER FOR EXEMPTION OF hra FROM GROSS TAXABLE INCOME IF THE AMOUNT CLAIMED AS HOUSE RENT EXCEEDS 1 LAKH. I AM FACING A VERY QUEER PROBLEM.MY LANDLORD WHO IS A SERVING AIR FORCE OFFICER AND HAS A GROSS SALARY OF AROUND 1.5 LAKH PER MONTH HAS FLATLY REFUSED PROVIDING HIS PAN CARD NUMBER FOR THE SAME. I MOVED INTO THIS PARTICULAR HOUSE IN APRIL 2012 AND THE LEASE WAS FOR FIRST 11 MONTHS.AFTER WHICH MY STAY WAS EXTENDED ON MUTUAL AGREEMENT WITHOUT RENEWAL OF THE LEASE AGREEMENT FOR THE YEAR 2013. I HAVE BEEN PAYING HIM RUPEES 23000 / PM AMOUNTING TO RUPEES 2,76000 IN THE WHOLE YEAR. MY TAX LIABILITY FOR THE SAME AMOUNT IF I DO NOT PROVIDE MY HR department with the pan card will be around 46000 rupees. now when i file my income tax for this year can i show the cheques paid by me every month to him in lieu of the amount i am claiming as paid for house rent. can he question the veracity of my claims by showing absence of house rent agreement between us. in that case scenario can i show my tenet ship by showing the rent that i have paid throughout he year, the electricity bills that i have paid through my bank account for the whole year and also by showing the cheques that i have paid for the maintenance of the colony that i live in. please do let me know a way to actually make my landlord pay the tax which should be paid by him not me.

mr anshu man singh., if you know the date of birth od your land lord and the exact name .., we can easily track the PAN number of your land lord., ... and as he is a govt officer it is his duty to disclose the rental income.... and you cant show the cheque payment as the payment to the rent.... please feel free to contact at: bhagava.wisdom@gmail.com
