Unfair treatment about salary

This query is : Resolved

15 November 2011 Case Study

X is working in ABC Ltd since 5 years as a senior accountant, his basic qualification is B.com and M.com, he is generally pleased with the company and thoroughly enjoys the creative demand of the job.

A few days after company appointed a Chartered Accountant in same department with X and scaled him in a pay of Rs. 3000 more than X. He felt that he has been treated unfairly.

The following day X consulted with HR manager, HR manager admitted apologetically that company have some new projects and for handling that it require to recruit some professional, and persons who have professional degree has to pay premium salaries.

X asked HR manager whether his salary would be adjusted accordingly. HR Manager replied that your salary will be revised in next 6 months as per review of your performance and company is also thinking of ESOP (Employee Stock Option Plan) to those employees who are working for more than 5 years, as well as some long time awards are also in pipe line. You are doing a great job, I am sure you will have definite good salary hike.

After few days X went again to HR manager and tell him that he is not willing to wait for so long and would like to look for immediate pay increase. After 3 days HR manager informed X that as a special case management has agreed to increase your salary by Rs. 3000/- with immediate effects, but your next review would be one year from now.

Ravi is a bit confused whether to accept the immediate pay increase or to wait for 6 months for performance review and ESOP plan.

16 November 2011 Hi,

Please express your views/opinions, what should X do in this case, as it is a real fact case. your opinion will be too much appreciated.

16 November 2011 X must wait for six months for better review & eshop advantage. Also he will have a good image of team player. He must wait & watch with professional instead of doing foolish acts of tension.

16 November 2011 We can observe from the facts of the case that;
1. HR department constantly review the performance and getting feedback.
2. The communication within admin hierarchy is smooth.
3. Management trust to keep and grow its knowledge bank and employee assets.
4. HR and HRD activities are well monitored.
5. Gravience handling is also upto mark and free of prejudice.

Conclusion: It would be good enough to tightened the trust band and opt to wait for management's plans.

16 November 2011 HRD & management trust are not accurate,HRD must see to it the way issue is handled is not correct. When a CA is recruited,How come he is getting only Rs 3000+ with M COM ? Why a clear policy is not there to put Managerical/Non Managerical/professional category with Grades are not defined.Discomfort is bound to come without well defined policies.

20 November 2011 Thank you all for giving too much support to sort out my query.
