Traveling allowance paid in salary

28 April 2011 Traveling allowance paid in salary has exemption in income tax or not if yes please tell me the limit of it.
It is not the LTA.

28 April 2011 TRAVELING ALLOWANCE IS NOT EXEMPT FROM TAX IF ITS A PART OF SALARY

29 April 2011 traveling allowance is exempt subject to expenditure incurred u/s 10(14)


29 April 2011 Dear Punit

The exemption u/s 10(14) is Rs. 9600 which has already been deducted for income tax.

29 April 2011 exemption of 800 p.m. or 9600 p.a. is in respect of transport allowance which is given to an employee to meet his expenditure for the purpose of commuting between the place of his residence and the place of duty.

& traveling allowance is any allowance for meeting the cost of travel on tour or on transfer, which is exempt subject to actual exp incurred.
