TDS ON PAYMENTS TO CONTRACTORS

04 March 2008 Whether expenses paid on behalf of contractors be considered as payment to contractor?
whether such payments be considered for TDS on payment basis/
kindly guide with relevant provisions.

04 March 2008 any amount paid towards contrctor will be liable for TDS.for further please give your details quieries.

04 March 2008 for which purpose you are paid that is important,if it is reimbursment then no tds if payment is on behalf of the contactor then you will deduct tax


04 March 2008 IF PAYMENT MADE ON BEHALF OF CONTRACTOR THAN TDS SHOULD BE DEDUCTED

04 March 2008 Sections 194C refer to any sum paid. As per circular No.715 dated 1995 reimbursements cannot be deducted out of the bill amount for the purpose of tax deduction at source.


05 March 2008 On reimbursement it depends on the nature of payment. If the payment fall with in the section for any TDS you will have to deduct TDS at rate applicable
