Tds on fdr interest

This query is : Resolved

07 December 2011 I have invested in two FDRs in a bank. The intt on these individual FDR does not exceed Rs. 10000. But total intt exceeds Rs. 10000. I want to know if the TDS will be deducted or not?
What is the basic rule of TDS on intt on FDR. It is deducted on intt on individual FDR or total FDRs in the name of a person.
Plz reply.
Thanx

07 December 2011 TDS IS DEDUCTED BY BANK ON THE TOTAL INTEREST PAID BY THE BANK.

IF INTEREST AMOUNT IS CROSS OF RS. 10000 DURING THE FINANCIAL YEAR THAN BANK HAS TO DEDUCTED TDS @ 10% IF PAN NO. IS PROVIDED TO BANK OTHER WISE TDS WOULD BE DEDUCTED @ 20%

THE LIMIT OF RS. 10000 NOT BE APPLICABLE ON SINGLE FDR, IT WILL BE APPLICABLE ON TOTAL FDR WITH SAME BANK BRANCH.
