06 May 2014 Hi,

A Senior Citizen Employee getting Annual Gross Salary 36,00,000.
His LIC is Rs. 1,00,000 and nothing other deduction or allowance.
Accordingly his taxable Income for F.Y. 2012-13 is Rs. 35,00,000.
Accordingly we deduct taxes Rs. 9,01,250.

Now we got an Intimation U/S 154 by Income Tax department:- we deduct short TDS Rs. 5,150 and they charged Interest Rs. 714 also. I have downloaded Justification Report also, according to that they deduct TDS on General Men Category.

We deduct TDS on senior citizen as usual correct slab rate.
Now What we should do against this.

06 May 2014 please check what did you enter in Annexure II for "deductee type"

06 May 2014 Hello Mr. Nikhil Ji,

As per Annexure-II, we enter "S" i.e. senior citizen.
and we deduct & deposit TDS accordingly.
Now what should do.


06 May 2014 then take a copy of the PAN of the deductee and meet the jurisdictional TDS AO

06 May 2014 ANy other procedure/documents is required.
Can we solve this by filing rectification request online?

07 May 2014 Hello Mr. Nikhil Ji,

I have downloaded conso file from Traces and through RPU, i knew that that employess is shown under "General" category.
It came to our knowledge deductee DOB is not updated in last year. And there is no other coloumn in which we can show him as Senior Citizen.
Now I want to know can we make a Revise Return on basis of updating Deductee D.O.B now?

07 May 2014 In Compu Tds software, when we adding new employee in 24Q. There is only Name, PAN, DOB, Gender option to fill.
As per my view if I will not updated D.O.B.
then how it will Opt General or Senior Citizen Cateogory.
Can you please tell me.
